1. Our commitment
Picklebet is committed to providing a safe and responsible wagering environment. We operate under our Responsible Gambling Code of Conduct and applicable state and territory codes, including the South Australian Responsible Gambling Code of Practice for South Australian residents. Our goal is to help the vast majority of customers who bet for entertainment continue to do so safely, while supporting anyone who may be experiencing harm.
Remember: the odds are always designed so that, over time, the bookmaker wins. Never bet more than you can comfortably afford to lose.
2. Tips for staying in control
- Set yourself a budget before you start and stick to it.
- Only gamble with money you can afford to lose — never with money for rent, bills or essentials.
- Set a time limit and take regular breaks.
- Don't chase your losses. Accept that losing is part of gambling and walk away.
- Don't gamble when you are stressed, upset or under the influence of alcohol.
- Treat gambling as entertainment, not as a source of income.
- Balance gambling with other activities you enjoy.
3. Tools we provide
Every Picklebet account includes free tools to help you manage your play. You can access these at any time in your account settings:
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
| Deposit limits | Cap how much you can deposit over a day, week or month. |
| Spend / loss limits | Set a ceiling on your net losses over a chosen period. |
| Activity statements | Review a clear history of your deposits, bets and outcomes. |
| Reality checks | Receive reminders of how long you have been logged in. |
| Time-out | Take a short break from betting for a set period. |
| Self-exclusion | Close access to your account for a longer period or permanently. |
4. Deposit and activity limits
Setting a deposit limit is one of the most effective ways to stay in control. You choose the amount and the period, and the limit takes effect immediately. Requests to increase a limit include a cooling-off period before they apply, while requests to decrease a limit take effect straight away. We encourage every customer to set a limit when they open their account.
5. Time-outs and self-exclusion
If you need a break, a time-out suspends your account for a period you choose. If you need longer-term help, self-exclusion prevents you from accessing your account for a minimum period. During any exclusion we will close your account to wagering and stop sending you marketing.
You can also exclude yourself from all licensed online and phone wagering providers across Australia at once through BetStop — the National Self-Exclusion Register at betstop.gov.au.
6. Warning signs of gambling harm
Gambling may be becoming a problem if you:
- Spend more time or money than you intended.
- Bet to win back money you have lost (chasing losses).
- Borrow money or sell things to gamble.
- Lie to family or friends about your gambling.
- Feel anxious, guilty or depressed about gambling.
- Neglect work, study, family or personal responsibilities.
7. Quick self-assessment
Ask yourself: Have you ever felt you needed to bet more and more money? Have you ever felt restless or irritable when trying to cut down? Have you ever lied to hide the extent of your gambling? If you answered "yes" to any of these, it may be time to talk to someone. Free, confidential help is available 24/7.
8. Protecting minors
It is illegal for anyone under 18 to open an account or place a bet in Australia. We verify the age of every customer and take steps to prevent underage gambling. If you share a device, please use parental-control software and keep your login details secure so that minors cannot access wagering services.
